Description

Front page of Kansas City Star dated July 28, 1974. Without the story telling sheets, its difficult to tell what part of this page was important to David Farrell or was connected to Illinois. In a recent article from the State Journal Register, Farrell explained that he used to live in Washington not far from Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. The front page of the Kansas City Journal read "Impeachment Article Voted." Like many Americans who supported President Nixon, shock of the House Judiciary Committee's recommendation and vote of 27-11 to impeach thus turning it over to the House of Representatives for formal action cause us to remember and document it as history as with Farrell who was perhaps in Kansas City that day it happened. This article discusses the charges of obstruction of justice brought upon Nixon. One of the committee members Representative McClory, according to this article, was an Illinois Republican from the 13th district who voted against impeachment. He had served in office from 1963 to 1983 between the 12th and 13th districts but had a law practice in Washington D.C. Perhaps Farrell knew McCory.
